    Download the firmware for your router and satellite. 

     

    • You need to visit NETGEAR Download Center to download the firmware for your Orbi satellite, and you need to save it to your desktop.
    • You need to launch the web browser from your computer connected to your Orbi router through an Ethernet cable. 

    Note - You must not use the computer connected to the wireless internet to upload the firmware on your router. The firmware updated through wireless internet connection might corrupt the router’s firmware damaging your router to the extend unrepairable. 

    • Use the link http://orbilogin.com to login.
    • You need to enter your username and password. 

    You need to use username - admin and use the password created at the time of the initial setup. 

    Note - Your username and password are case sensitive.

    • Click on the advanced tab, administration, then on the firmware update. 
    • The firmware update page will be displayed, on clicking the manual update tab. 

    Note - You need to update the firmware on your Orbi satellite first before updating it on your router. Do not update the firmware on the satellite and the device at the same time.

     

    Updating the firmware on the Orbi-satellite

     

    • Click on the box next to the satellite model name.
    • On clicking the update button, you will get the Orbi-satellite update window. 
    • You need to enter the Orbi router login password if the browser asks for it.
    • You need to locate and select the files ending in .img or .chk by clicking on the browse button. 
    • To upload the firmware file, click on the upload button. The process will complete in a few minutes. 
    • Go to the status page to double click the firmware version after you finish updating.

     

    Updating the firmware on the router

     

     

    • You need to return to  http://orbilogin.com.

     

    • Then you need to go back to the firmware update page and follow the steps given below:
      • You need to click on advanced, administration, then on the firmware update. 
      • Click on the manual update tab. 
      • You need to locate and select the files ending in .img using the browse button.
      • To upload the firmware file, click on the upload button. The process will complete in a few minutes. 
      • To continue, you need to click on Yes. 
      • Go to the upper-right corner of the page to double click the firmware version after you finish updating.
