The One?

  • The One?

When you’re single, especially after your mid-20s, it can certainly seem like the world is coupling up around you. After the first couple gets married, all of your other friends will seem to get engaged all at once. It’s like a race to the finish, and you don’t want to be last. I’m the last one of my friends to get married, and I’m the oldest at 34. I’m not too concerned about it, but it did make me think about my future. I even signed up for a free dating website to see if I could find the one.

I love to meet new people, and the websites helped me meet people I wouldn’t have gotten near otherwise. Even though I never met my match, dating people from online was an interesting experience to say the least. There are sites out there that cater to different walks of life. There are sites for certain professions, really fit people, heavy people, and people who prefer to date outside of (or within) their race. There are even sites that cater to people with certain STIs, hobbies, and other niche markets.

You can sign up for a free dating website and be talking to new matches in minutes. All it takes is a few words about yourself, and if you really want to attract attention, some good pictures. You can meet people who don’t have any of your personal deal breakers (mine are kids, smoking, drug use and overweight but everyone’s are different), as well as meet people who have the same ideals and interests as you. The great thing about online dating is that it’s already out there so you can read about what makes your potential match tick before you even meet him or her.

If you love to meet new people, online dating is a great way to do just that. Even if you end up as just friends, you never know, you may meet the perfect guy for you. I ended up meeting my perfect match offline, but if I were single again, I’d give online dating a try for sure.
